WHAT DOES AN ENGINEERING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN DO?

An Engineering Support Technician works to deliver best-in-class engineering operations across multiple upper tier COMAH sites within the Spirits Engineering department. Their key function is to demonstrate excellence in document management, including engineering standards and CAD drawing maintenance. They act as custodians of all supporting documentation for maintenance and project engineering functions and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities at Bacardi to ensure that:

  • All relevant Bacardi and legislative standards are up to date and accessible for the UKSC Engineering Team.
  • All process and GA drawings are current, in CAD format, and stored in a controlled document process.
  • Implement and manage a comprehensive document management system.
  • Assist in developing engineering personnel according to a defined skills matrix and within the CTMS process.
  • Support engineering performance reporting and process improvements.
  • Strive to enhance performance aligning with World Class Manufacturing standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement effective document management processes for the UKSC Engineering Team.
  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings, update when necessary, and ensure accuracy in registers.
  • Custodian of all Spirits Engineering SOPs, Work Instructions, and Risk Assessments.
  • Assist with projects from concept to implementation, ensuring asset drawings and registers are updated.
  • Recommend process improvements to support continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to the development of the engineering team and manage departmental skills matrix.
  • Support external suppliers/contractors and manage PTW requirements for contractors.
  • Support Maintenance Managers and Coordinators as needed.
  • Suggest and implement improvements for asset performance.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area following 5S standards.
  • Understand and contribute to relevant KPIs.
  • Engage in personal development and training, including CompEx certification for hazardous areas.
  • Proactively monitor performance, challenge underperformance, and respond with solutions.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations to prevent hazards.

Skills and Experience

Educational Requirements:

  • HNC/HND or similar in engineering.
  • Proficient in CAD software.

Experience:

  • Maintenance of P&ID and GA drawings in CAD.
  • Document management in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience in creating technical documents and reports.
  • Experience in FMCG or spirits industry preferred.
  • Understanding of hazardous environment operations (ATEX/DSEAR).
  • Knowledge of engineering standards like PSSR, LOLER, PUWER.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as LEAN, FMECA, TPM.
  • Ability to build networks and support across multiple sites; team management experience is a plus.
