Salary: £27,694 - £31,022 per annum (pro rata for part time or fixed term)

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week, working pattern to include weekends and bank holidays

Fixed Term Contract or Secondment Opportunity (April to October) Permanent. Both roles are open to full time, part time, and job share applications, all of which will be assessed equally.

What we are looking for

We are looking for two Seasonal Rangers to join our Public Realm Team.

About the Public Realm Team

The Public Realm Team are responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the District Councils' countryside sites and open spaces, including informal recreational sites, local nature reserves, parks and smaller picnic areas. In addition, the Team manages Council owned play areas, tree stock, routine grounds maintenance on roadside verges and open spaces within Council housing areas, and keeps the district clean through litter collection, mechanical sweeping and removal of fly tips.

About the role

As a Seasonal Ranger you will play a key part in keeping sites throughout the joint district clean, tidy and welcoming for residents and visitors, carrying out site‑specific nature improvement and vegetation management tasks. You will supervise the public's use of all countryside sites, welcoming visitors and advising them on site rules. You will patrol sites on foot and drive between sites as required. The role is full‑time, 37 hours per week, with a pattern to be agreed, including weekend and bank holiday working.

About you

You will be confident in communicating well with members of the public, colleagues and supervisory staff, and you will practice good customer care. You will enjoy working outdoors, individually or as part of a team, and you will be proud of the work you do and keen to provide a service to residents and visitors alike. You will need to demonstrate:

  • a pro‑active approach and a flexible attitude
  • awareness of Health and Safety at Work Act, practice and responsibility
  • computer literacy and ability to use email and mobile devices
  • the ability to maintain accurate work records

You will need to hold a full driving licence.
