Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking for an experienced and driven Housing Manager to join our Housing Management Team. To be successful, you will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities. This new role is central to our transformed Housing Management service and our ambition to be an outstanding landlord.
In this key management role, you will oversee and ensure effective service delivery and build trust with tenants and leaseholders. The main areas of responsibility will be:
- Tenancy sustainment - embedding proactive support to prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies.
- Home ownership - managing right to buy applications, leaseholder services, and budgets.
- Administrative support - leading a small team supporting the wider department.
You will drive improvements, promote tenant engagement, and ensure compliance with policies. With a focus on equality, diversity, and professional development, you will help shape a responsive and inclusive service.
We are looking for a highly skilled housing professional with a track record of leading teams and delivering service improvements. You will have a strong background in leading diverse teams and working collaboratively across departments. You will bring effective leadership, project management, communication, and negotiation skills, and will have the experience to confidently manage tenancy sustainment, home ownership, and administrative functions. You will be adaptable, policy aware, and committed to transparency, tenant engagement, and continuous development. You will also be a strategic thinker with a passion for service improvement and a commitment to delivering high-quality, integrated housing services.
