Feel Good Suffolk Advisor

About the role

The role is part of the Communities Team within Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, delivering holistic health and wellbeing support across the district. The Advisor will primarily work in the community, providing face‑to‑face, remote and phone services, and travelling across the district to meet clients and deliver group and one‑to‑one interventions.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide triage and assessment of clients accessing the Feel Good Suffolk service.
  • Deliver behaviour change interventions and techniques around Smoking Cessation, Physical Activity and Weight Management.
  • Motivate and empower clients to make behaviour changes, conduct assessments and create personal action plans.
  • Use Health Coaching techniques to deliver face‑to‑face, digital and telephone 1:1 and group interventions.
  • Develop and co‑produce action plans to provide personalised support to individuals, families and carers.
  • Deliver group and one‑to‑one smoking cessation support, coordinating the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and applying a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach.
  • Forge strong links with partners across the locality to refer and signpost clients to suitable support services.
  • Complete ‘touch‑point’ assessments and evaluations, record data in a case management system and report on outcomes.
  • Contribute to the measurement of change and improvement in health behaviours using relevant outcome measures.
  • Equip people with knowledge, skills and confidence to access information and support via a digital front door.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the county to ensure efficient working.
  • Attend community events and carry out outreach across the districts.

Qualifications and experience

  • Understanding of barriers to healthy lifestyles and health inequalities that can impact health behaviours.
  • Good knowledge of the local area and provision around health.
  • Understanding of referral, triage and assessment processes.
  • Experience using a case management/customer relationship management system.
  • Experience in building personalised action plans and working towards key performance indicators and evaluation processes.
  • Broad knowledge of health and wellbeing issues.
  • Ability to manage working relationships and network with new contacts.
  • Desire to undertake training and development opportunities to ensure continual professional development.

Essential requirements

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car.
