Lead frontline aviation operations that keep critical defence capability flying. At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Site Operations Manager at our RAF Cosford, Shropshire site.
The role involves overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day delivery of aircraft operations at RAF Cosford, ensuring engineering, maintenance, safety, flying operations and support services operate seamlessly to meet contractual and customer requirements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Leading site operations, ensuring aircraft, engineering and support activities meet contractual and customer requirements.
- Managing and motivating onsite teams, providing clear leadership, direction and performance oversight.
- Engaging with key stakeholders, including military personnel and internal Babcock teams.
- Overseeing reporting and performance data, ensuring accurate operational and statistical reporting.
- Maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory and company procedures across all site activities.
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Cosford, Shropshire.
Essential experience:
- Proven experience leading teams in a regulated operational or aviation environment.
- Strong leadership capability, with confidence managing diverse, multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrable problem‑solving ability, using data and sound judgement to drive decisions.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Human Factors qualification.
- Recognised Safety, Health, Environment or Fire qualification.
- Defence or aviation sector experience.
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
