Overview

In this Technical Lead - Commissioning role, you interface between project teams and the Commissioning Group to coordinate commissioning activities across systems. You bring subject-matter expertise to guide project personnel and ensure alignment with the project schedule. You will participate in risk and opportunity identification within a shipyard environment and support dynamic program delivery. This role supports Canada’s defence capabilities and contributes to a safe and secure world through cross-functional collaboration and expert commissioning leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main interface between Project Teams and the Commissioning Group to enable clear communication
  • Provide commissioning expertise to advise project personnel
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with the Commissioning Team across systems and work packages
  • Ensure activities are sequenced per the Project Schedule and resolve misalignments
  • Identify and communicate project risks, conflicts, and opportunities related to Commissioning
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the project schedule with input from the Commissioning Group
  • Attend key Project meetings as the Commissioning Team representative
  • Collaborate with scheduling/planning to integrate test activities into the master schedule
  • Respond to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery in a shipyard environment
  • Identify risks and opportunities in commissioning
  • Other duties as required

Key requirements

  • Strong background in Commissioning, Engineering, or Project Integration with post-secondary education in engineering or engineering technology, or equivalent experience
  • Registration as AScT, CET, or PEng or eligibility to obtain within 12 months
  • 10+ years of related technical experience
  • Proven ability to work across departments and manage competing priorities
  • Experience interpreting and contributing to complex project schedules
  • Familiarity with submarine or naval refit programs
  • Knowledge of mechanical/electrical/weapon system technologies relevant to commissioning
  • Experience in testing/commissioning mechanical systems; offshore/marine context an asset
  • Physical ability for ladders, confined spaces, scaffolding, and industrial environments
  • Excellent written/verbal/interpersonal communication and MS Office skills
  • Eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
