Overview
Senior Test Specialist leads testing and commissioning for Victoria Class Submarine systems, directing multi-disciplinary teams to diagnose and resolve complex issues. You will work in a shipyard environment, ensuring safe, reliable operation of weapons and submarine systems while collaborating with engineering and commissioning managers. The role offers growth in leadership, mentorship, and hands-on testing within a mission-driven defence organization. You will help deliver critical capabilities that support national security and maritime readiness.

Responsibilities
- Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
- Act as a Test Director and lead multi-disciplinary staff during submarine testing
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance
- Contribute to solutions for moderate to high complexity issues and communicate risks to stakeholders
- Lead small to medium teams to deliver projects or tasks and mentor other Test Specialists
- Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications
- Coordinate with Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery in a shipyard environment
- Draft and review test documentation and lockout/tagout procedures
- Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance
- Perform other duties as required
Key requirements
- 8+ years of related technical experience
- Strong technical skills with post-secondary education in electrical engineering technology or equivalent
- Eligible for recognition as AScT, CET or EIT designation in British Columbia
- Marine, offshore drilling, naval vessels, or submarine experience is an asset
- Experience operating, testing/commissioning weapons systems is an asset
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders, walk/stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces
- Comfort working around moving equipment and at heights in an industrial environment
- Knowledge of weapons systems and electronics technologies (A2A/S2A/A2G/S2S, torpedoes, submarine mission systems, fibre optics) is an asset
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
- Strong computer skills including MS Office suite
- Eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR clearance
