As a Senior Test Specialist, you will lead testing and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine systems, directing cross-functional teams to diagnose faults and deliver reliable naval capabilities. You will articulate complex issues to stakeholders and mentor other specialists, while shaping test documentation and safety procedures in a shipyard setting. This role places you at the core of ensuring mission-critical systems perform under demanding conditions, contributing to Canada’s defence readiness. Responsibilities
- Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance for Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
- Act as Test Director and lead multi-disciplinary teams during submarine testing
- Troubleshoot equipment and perform corrective maintenance
- Clarify complex technical issues, solutions and risks to stakeholders
- Lead small to medium teams to deliver projects or tasks
- Mentor other Test Specialists
- Record defects in the IT applications
- Support dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard environment
- Draft and review test documentation and work instructions
- Draft and review lockout/tagout documentation for safe commissioning
- Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance
- Perform other duties as required
Key requirements
- Post-secondary education in electrical engineering technology or equivalent
- Registration as AScT or CET with the provincial association, or eligibility within 12 months
- 8+ years of related technical experience
- Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling, naval vessel or submarine experience an asset
- Experience operating, testing/commissioning electrical systems
- Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, submarine mission systems, fibre optics, UPS and switching
- Awareness of functional and non-functional system performance testing in new construction or retro-commissioning
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
- Strong MS Office skills
- Eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
