Overview

As a Senior Test Specialist, you will lead testing and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine systems, directing cross-functional teams to diagnose faults and deliver reliable naval capabilities. You will articulate complex issues to stakeholders and mentor other specialists, while shaping test documentation and safety procedures in a shipyard setting. This role places you at the core of ensuring mission-critical systems perform under demanding conditions, contributing to Canada’s defence readiness. Responsibilities

  • Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance for Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
  • Act as Test Director and lead multi-disciplinary teams during submarine testing
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform corrective maintenance
  • Clarify complex technical issues, solutions and risks to stakeholders
  • Lead small to medium teams to deliver projects or tasks
  • Mentor other Test Specialists
  • Record defects in the IT applications
  • Support dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard environment
  • Draft and review test documentation and work instructions
  • Draft and review lockout/tagout documentation for safe commissioning
  • Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance
  • Perform other duties as required

Key requirements

  • Post-secondary education in electrical engineering technology or equivalent
  • Registration as AScT or CET with the provincial association, or eligibility within 12 months
  • 8+ years of related technical experience
  • Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling, naval vessel or submarine experience an asset
  • Experience operating, testing/commissioning electrical systems
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, submarine mission systems, fibre optics, UPS and switching
  • Awareness of functional and non-functional system performance testing in new construction or retro-commissioning
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
