Overview
In this role you will oversee electrical testing and commissioning for Victoria Class Submarine systems, guiding multi-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable, certified test results. You will mentor junior specialists, articulate complex technical issues to stakeholders, and help drive safe, effective testing in a shipyard environment. This position sits within a broader defence mission to keep critical assets secure and operational. You will work closely with commissioning managers and technical teams to ensure mission-critical systems meet quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Oversee testing, acceptance, and maintenance activities for Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
- Direct a Test Director and multi-disciplinary team during submarine testing
- Oversee equipment troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and corrective maintenance
- Mentor and guide Senior Test Specialists and Test Technicians
- Contribute to solving complex issues and clearly communicate risks to stakeholders
- Lead small to medium teams to deliver projects or tasks
- Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications
- Draft and review test documentation and work instructions
- Draft and review lockout/tagout documentation for safe commissioning
- Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance
Key requirements
- 10+ years of related technical experience
- Experience operating, testing/commissioning electrical systems
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Applied Science Technologist (AScT), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) or eligibility to register within 12 months
- Marine, offshore, naval vessel, or submarine experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of electrical/marine systems (AC/DC, control systems, batteries, naval mission systems, fibre optics, UPS, etc.) or related testing expertise
- Physical ability to climb stairs, work in confined spaces, and in an industrial environment
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities
- Strong computer skills including MS Office
- Eligibility for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR clearance
- Post-secondary education in engineering technology or equivalent experience (degree/diploma/certificate)
