Overview

As a Principal Combat Systems Engineer, you provide high-level technical leadership across the Combat Systems portfolio and steer complex systems engineering efforts. You will mentor multidisciplinary teams, oversee engineering outputs across the lifecycle, and collaborate with customers and stakeholders to deliver quality, on-schedule solutions. The role supports Canada’s defence and civil customers within a security-focused, high-integrity environment. You will help shape cross-functional engineering practices and drive continuous improvement in combat systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Principal Engineer level leadership, governance, and technical direction across the Combat Systems portfolio
  • Apply broad Combat Systems and Systems Engineering expertise to resolve complex technical challenges
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary technical work from definition to delivery
  • Maintain oversight of quality, accuracy, and technical integrity of engineering outputs
  • Collaborate with program managers, customers, and internal stakeholders to plan, prioritise, and deliver engineering activities
  • Support technical governance, assurance, reviews, and verification activities
  • Identify, assess, communicate, and manage technical and program risks with mitigation actions
  • Build relationships with customers, external partners, and internal teams and communicate complex issues to stakeholders
  • Strengthen organizational capability through coaching, leadership, and process improvement across Combat Systems engineering

Key requirements

  • Electrical engineering degree (Canadian accredited or foreign equivalent)
  • P.Eng. licence in good standing or immediate eligibility in British Columbia
  • 12+ years in a high-integrity engineering environment
  • 8+ years applying Systems Engineering in Combat Systems or related domain
  • 5+ years leading technical teams and delivering projects
  • 5+ years applying Systems Engineering lifecycle to Combat Systems
  • eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to lead without formal authority
