Overview
As a Marine Systems Specialist, you will support the delivery and integrity of submarine mechanical systems in a defence-focused environment. You will work under the Waterfront Engineering Marine Systems team to ensure reliable assets for Canada’s defence and civil customers. You’ll assess risks, contribute to technical deliverables, and guide maintenance activities in a shipyard setting. This role offers hands-on impact in complex propulsion, hydraulics, and submarine mechanical domains within a security-conscious culture.

Responsibilities
- Report to the Waterfront Engineering Marine Systems - Team Lead and support technical deliverables
- Prepare deviations and waivers for submarine mechanical equipment
- Draft and review repair specifications for submarine maintenance activities
- Draft and review manufacture drawings for fabrication of components and assemblies
- Assess and communicate risks of submarine engineering systems to customers
- Respond to Project Managers for dynamic program delivery in a shipyard
- Provide oversight on complex fault diagnostics and system operations
- Identify risks, impacts, mitigations, and opportunities
Key requirements
- Accredited post-secondary education in mechanical engineering and/or technology (Diploma/Certificate or higher)
- Eligible or registered with a provincial professional body (Engineers and Geoscientists BC or Applied Scientists Technologists and Technicians BC) as Engineer-in-Training or Graduate Technologist or eligible for registration
- 4+ years of experience in design or maintenance of marine systems (hydraulics, high pressure air, diesel, propulsion); submarine experience desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills including MS Office
- Drafting experience with AutoDesk and Dassault Systems products
- Attention to detail and shipyard safety knowledge
- Physical ability for ladders, stairs, confined spaces, scaffolding, industrial environment
- Eligible for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
