Overview
In this role you will lead a commissioning team to ensure testing, acceptance, and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine systems. You will assess risks, communicate complex technical issues to stakeholders, and support shipyard program delivery. You will mentor the Commissioning Team and provide direct support to submarine operators in varied environments. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, oversight and management for a team of engineers and technologists conducting testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for Victoria Class Submarine systems
- Assess, document and communicate risks associated with submarine platform and mission systems to internal and external customers
- Contribute to determining solutions to moderate to high complexity problems and clearly articulate technical issues and risks
- Be responsive to Program Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard environment
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Commissioning Team personnel
- Provide direct support to submarine operators and maintainers in various environments and scenarios
- Other duties as required
Key requirements
- Strong technical background with post-secondary education in engineering technology or equivalent experience
- P.Eng, AScT, or CET registration with the applicable provincial association is preferred
- 12+ years of operational or equipment maintenance experience in a marine environment
- 5+ years of proven leadership/management of technical teams
- Experience with naval mission systems and/or naval mechanical/electrical systems is highly desirable
- Experience with ISO 15288 and systems engineering life-cycle
- Familiarity with ASHRAE Guideline 0-2013 commissioning processes
- Ability to perform in physically demanding environments (ladder/climb, confined spaces, height work, around water)
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong computer skills (MS Office)
- Eligible for Canadian Secret Clearance and ITAR clearance
