The role involves delivering procurement and contract management expertise across major capital investment and infrastructure programmes. Working at the heart of complex defence projects, you'll help ensure critical supply chain activities support programme delivery, regulatory compliance, and long-term operational success.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Leading procurement activities across capital projects, infrastructure programmes, and new works initiatives.
- Establishing and managing framework agreements for professional services, construction works, and specialist suppliers.
- Building strong supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation, value, and continuous improvement.
- Negotiating commercial terms and supporting effective risk management in line with NEC4 contract requirements.
- Monitoring contract performance, resolving issues, and supporting change control and governance processes.
This is a full-time, onsite role based at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, working Monday to Friday.
Essential experience:
- Extensive experience delivering procurement activities across capital projects, new works programmes, and framework agreements.
- Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, including negotiation, commercial risk management, and contract optimisation.
- Proven supplier relationship management experience, including performance improvement and issue resolution.
- Experience working collaboratively with engineering, project management, commercial, and technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of procurement best practice, compliance processes, risk management, and digital procurement systems such as Oracle ERP and e-tendering platforms.
Qualifications:
- Essential: NEC3 or NEC4 training, MCIPS qualification, equivalent qualification, or working towards professional accreditation.
- Desirable: Degree qualified or equivalent, Lean Six Sigma qualification.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
