If you join us, you can play your part as the Head of Asset Management Strategy, based at either the Babcock Technology Centre in Bristol, Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, or HM Naval Base Clyde near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute.

The role offers the opportunity to lead and influence asset management strategy at enterprise level within one of the UK's leading engineering and defence organisations. You'll drive the development of long-term asset management frameworks, policies, standards and operating models that support critical defence and infrastructure capabilities.

Working closely with executive leaders and key stakeholders, you'll help maximise asset value, manage risk and create lasting impact across a complex, asset-intensive environment. Day-to-day, you'll provide strategic leadership for enterprise asset management across the business. You'll establish and continuously improve the Asset Management System, define best practice standards, and drive organisational capability to ensure assets are managed safely, efficiently and sustainably.

This role offers the chance to shape the future direction of asset management while developing industry-leading expertise within a business that delivers vital services supporting national security and public infrastructure.

  • Leading the development and implementation of enterprise and sector asset management strategies.
  • Establishing and continuously improving asset management systems, policies, standards and governance frameworks.
  • Driving operating model development, organisational capability growth and asset management maturity programmes.
  • Supporting portfolio optimisation through investment modelling, strategic planning and risk-based decision making.
  • Representing the business with executive stakeholders, industry forums, regulatory bodies and professional institutions.

This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days onsite at one of Babcock's key locations: Babcock Technology Centre, Devonport Royal Dockyard or HM Naval Base Clyde, Near Helensburgh Argyll and Bute site. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly to the other sites to support collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery across the business.

Essential experience:

  • Extensive leadership experience within asset-intensive organisations.
  • Significant experience developing and implementing ISO 55001 Asset Management Systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise operating models.
  • Proven track record delivering strategic transformation and organisational change initiatives.
  • Experience engaging, influencing and advising Executive and Board-level stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Asset Management, Infrastructure Management, Business Management or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrable expertise in strategic asset management and enterprise governance.

Desirable:

  • Institute of Asset Management certification or membership.
  • Professional engineering registration or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Experience leading ISO 55001 certification programmes.
  • Experience within regulated infrastructure, engineering, defence, utilities, transport or energy sectors.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
