You'll have the opportunity to influence the long-term safety, capability and availability of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. Working within our Nuclear business, you'll support through-life maintenance management and optimisation activities, ensuring complex engineering requirements are effectively planned and delivered throughout the lifecycle of critical defence assets. This is a rewarding role where your expertise will contribute directly to national security while offering the chance to collaborate with industry-leading engineers, the Ministry of Defence, the Royal Navy and key industry partners.Day-to-day, you’ll be required to Manage structural maintenance requirements throughout the lifecycle of submarine platforms.Support through-life asset management, maintenance planning and engineering optimisation activities.Collaborate with stakeholders across Babcock, the Royal Navy, Ministry of Defence and industry partners.Assess structural engineering requirements, surveillance activities and defect rectification programmes.Drive continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with engineering policies and standards.This role is based at Bristol Technology Centre and is a 35-hour working week. Flexible working arrangements are available. You will be working at least 2 days a week onsite.Essential experience of the Senior Naval ArchitectExperience as a Naval Architect with knowledge of platform maintenance, structural surveillance and/or defect rectification.Strong understanding of structural engineering principles within complex engineering environments.Ability to build effective relationships and manage a diverse range of stakeholders.Strong communication and presentation skills.Experience identifying and implementing engineering or process improvement initiativesQualifications for the Senior Naval ArchitectDegree qualified in Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline with significant structural engineering experience.Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a demonstrable plan to achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) statusSecurity ClearanceThe successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
