Overview
In this role you will contribute to the Submarine Defuel Delivery Project, designing and implementing mechanical handling and defuel tooling for safe submarine defueling. You will work with the Design Manager and project teams to deliver safe, compliant, high-performing solutions within a regulated environment. Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical handling and defuel tooling engineering activities within scope, schedule, cost and quality constraints
- Update technical documentation from detailed design to as-built status
- Ensure compliance with quality management processes and engineering standards
- Support configuration management, quality control and accurate project documentation
- Promote safe working practices by identifying hazards, supporting risk assessments and communicating risks
- Collaborate with Design Manager and project teams to deliver robust mechanical handling and lifting equipment designs
Key requirements
- Experience designing mechanical handling systems and lifting equipment in highly regulated industries (nuclear, defence, or energy)
- Experience producing and supporting engineering design justifications
- Experience in technical design development and engineering problem-solving
- Strong understanding of design principles, safety requirements and quality standards
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering software and computer-based engineering applications
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Clear communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Safety-conscious mindset and proactive risk awareness
