Overview

As Principal Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will lead commissioning activities for complex mechanical systems in a regulated defence environment. You’ll act as a technical authority, mentoring teams and guiding safe, compliant delivery to high quality standards. You’ll influence project outcomes, shaping how assets are brought into service and ensuring robust documentation and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical commissioning activities across complex projects and systems
  • Ensure commissioning safety and regulatory/quality compliance
  • Provide technical leadership to engineering and commissioning teams
  • Develop and review commissioning docs, procedures, and test plans
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in mechanical commissioning within engineering or defence environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and commissioning processes
  • Experience leading teams and influencing stakeholders in safety-critical settings
  • Experience in highly regulated industries with a focus on safety and compliance
  • Analytical and structured approach to solving complex engineering challenges
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards (preferred)
  • Security clearance: NNPP I and sole UK National eligibility
