Overview
In this role you will lead complex civil and structural engineering work at Devonport Royal Dockyard to support the UK’s defence infrastructure. You’ll provide technical leadership across design packages from concept to handover, working in a multidisciplinary environment to solve challenging problems. Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of civil and structural design packages within scope, quality, cost and schedule targets
- Manage technical design packages through the full engineering lifecycle from identified need to handover
- Collaborate with stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into design solutions
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and design teams
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, governance and configuration management across activities
- Work within a multidisciplinary environment and manage multiple technical interfaces
- Influence major infrastructure programmes and solve complex engineering challenges
- Support delivery to national security-focused projects
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and safety standards across projects
Key requirements
- Demonstrable experience delivering complex engineering design projects through full design lifecycle
- Strong civil and structural design background in a comparable engineering or infrastructure environment
- Knowledge of architectural design principles for industrial buildings and facilities
- Experience in multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple technical interfaces
- Experience in design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures; dry dock structures advantageous
- Degree or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
- Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution, or ability to achieve Engineering Council registration at Chartered level
- UK national able to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance
