The role

As an Employee Relations Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in shaping positive and effective people practices across our Marine business. This is more than a case‑handling role — it’s about influencing managers, strengthening workplace relationships and supporting fair, legally compliant decision‑making in a highly unionised environment. You’ll be trusted to provide commercially focused, pragmatic advice across a wide range of employee relations matters, helping leaders navigate change with confidence while supporting employees to thrive. In doing so, you’ll directly contribute to an engaged workforce delivering programmes that matter — and you’ll continue to build your own expertise and credibility in a complex, fast‑moving organisation.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for all employee relations queries, providing trusted, high‑quality advice
  • Advising and coaching managers on employment law, policy and best practice to support fair, consistent outcomes
  • Managing a broad range of employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and flexible working matters
  • Building strong relationships across HR and the wider business, escalating complex issues when required
