Our 4-year apprenticeship programme blends classroom learning with diverse, practical experience, guiding you toward a full honours degree in Electrical Engineering and a rewarding career in the nuclear industry.\\nOur Cavendish Nuclear business supports customers to deliver a future where nuclear is a key part of the energy solution. By joining our Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship, you’ll be part of a team at the forefront of developing advanced technologies that make the world safer and more secure.\\nAs an apprentice, you’ll contribute to a variety of projects involving electrical, control, and instrumentation design, from conceptual stages to manufacturing readiness.

Learning from experienced colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to rotate through departments to contribute to important projects. Through this direct involvement, you will:\\n – Create electrical drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules, and reports\\n – Get hands-on experience of electrical installation and hardware and software testing, on-site\\n – Use design tools such as AutoCAD, Trimble ProDesign, and Dialux\\n – Receive training in Electrical Safety and BS7671 (IET Electrical Wiring Regulations).\\n – Receive nuclear industry specific training through NSAN (National Skills Academy Nuclear).\\nYour work will be integral to vital projects advancing the UK’s nuclear clean-up efforts. This includes decommissioning outdated facilities to safeguard the environment and refurbishing laboratories and nuclear waste plants to ensure safety and efficiency.

Each project contributes to the safe clean-up of the UK’s nuclear legacy and helps create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.\\nFuture prospects\\n \\n \\n \\nAt the end of the programme, you will have acquired the skills and experience to move into an Engineering role, with a competitive annual salary likely to be c.£41,837. We’ll also support you in achieving professional registration through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).\\n \\nThe skills you develop in this programme provide an excellent foundation for a successful future in engineering, which could see you progress into roles like Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer, and beyond. Other potential career routes include subject matter expert, project management and safety specialist.\\nWhat you’ll need \\n\\n – Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent) with English and Mathematics at B/6 or higher.\\n – 3 A Levels in Maths and two other STEM subjects, or an equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g.

BTEC at Merit or Distinction with a strong mathematical element.\\n – We value strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. While academic achievements are important, we place equal emphasis on your attitude and your enthusiasm to be part of our future at Cavendish Nuclear. We’re looking for evidence of genuine interest and passion for building a career as an Electrical Engineer.\\n – Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for.
