The Role:
As Engineering Manager, you will be implementing the engineering across Satellite Communications to ensure delivery to the customer to meet their requirements. This role would ideally suit a highly experienced Systems Engineer looking to take the next step in their career. The Principal Systems Engineer will report to the Program Engineering Manager.
Duties include:
- Delivery of systems engineering activities in accordance with the Top-Level Engineering Management Plan, from requirements capture to delivery.
- Champion best practice Babcock processes and tailoring.
- Own all Systems Engineering deliverables for assigned work packages, including engineering plans with the technical lead, providing full life cycle support and ensuring alignment with industry-standard systems and product life cycles.
- Manage engineering scope and technical outcomes: Collaborate with Project Managers to plan and execute lifecycle engineering activities in line with contractual, regulatory, and industry standards, following Babcock's Global Engineering Lifecycle and Program Management Plans, including cost and schedule forecasting across multiple projects.
- Technical Team Management: Manage and lead mixed discipline engineering teams, ensuring the provision of resources, guidance, and support needed to allow the teams to perform effectively.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential Experience of the Engineering Manager:
- Working knowledge of MoD procurement processes, project delivery practices and technical standards compliance.
- Ability to lead a team of mixed discipline engineers to deliver complex projects.
- Proven experience in Holistic Life Cycle Management with balanced competencies across the Systems Engineering Discipline.
- A good understanding of cross domain and cross boundary requirements and interface.
Qualifications for the Engineering Manager:
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering. HNC/HND with equivalent, relevant experience is valued and welcomed.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. You may be required to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance once in post.
