The Role As a Commercial Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary; working in the Nuclear Commercial Strategy function, positioning Babcock as a key strategic partner with the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Day-to-day, you’ll be providing commercial expertise and governance to internal stakeholders (finance, project teams, supply chain and senior management) in the development of proposals and functional reviews, processes, policies, and commercial risks: Be confident and competent when interacting with stakeholders and will work to develop positive customer relationships. Develop innovative and pragmatic commercial solutions in a dynamic environment. Promote and maintain compliance with commercial policies, processes, and procedures. Support in the identification of contractual risk, quantification, and mitigation strategies. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers and stakeholders, to align commercial strategies with overall project objectives. This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to Bristol on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements. Essential Experience of the Commercial Specialist: Experience in contract and bid management, ideally gained within the UK Defence market. Knowledge of commercial terms and types of agreements. Experienced in UK MOD contracting methods and strategies. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Deadline driven to meet critical internal governance and customer timelines, with good attention to detail. Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law or Accountancy, but this is not essential. Ideally, you will hold or be working towards relevant professional memberships such as IACCM / WCC (World Commerce and Contracting). Security Clearance The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
