The role
As a Business Support Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, security and smooth operation of a highly regulated nuclear site. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to become the first point of contact for staff, contractors and visitors, ensuring that everyone entering the site does so safely, securely and in line with strict procedures. You will help to keep people safe, support emergency response arrangements and contribute to essential operational activities. It is a role with real purpose where your actions directly support national security and site resilience.
Day to day you will be required to:
- Manage visitor and contractor bookings, complete access checks and confirm that all individuals meet site security and induction requirements
- Monitor access points, support CCTV activities and challenge unauthorised access
- Act as a trained First Aider and Fire Marshal, supporting emergency response when required
- Carry out security walkabouts, building checks and facilities tasks while keeping accurate records and reports
- Provide reception, meet and greet and general administrative support across Urenco buildings
The starting salary for this role is £31,500.00, increasing to £32,945.55 upon successful completion of training to achieve the required skill level, sign off probation and obtain SC vetting. This role is full time, 42 hours per week and is based on site at Capenhurst. The working hours cover 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required around start and finish times to ensure we meet the customers' demands. Standard hours of work are 0800 to 1630, however timings may change to facilitate training during Site silent hours.
Essential experience of the Business Support Officer:
- Experience in an administrative or business support role
- Experience in a reception, front of house or other customer facing environment
- Experience managing visitors, contractors or access control processes
- Ability to follow procedures accurately in a regulated environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Qualifications for the Business Support Officer:
- First Aid at Work certification or willingness to obtain
- Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
