The role:
As a Programme Manager, you’ll provide leadership, strategic oversight, and operational discipline to deliver complex rail frameworks and projects safely, efficiently, and profitably. This is a senior leadership role where your decisions will directly protect revenue, enhance margins, and strengthen Babcock’s reputation as a trusted delivery partner. You’ll have the opportunity to shape performance, drive innovation, and make a tangible impact on national infrastructure.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary project management team to deliver frameworks and contracts safely and efficiently
- Oversee programme-level planning, including resource allocation, risk management, and change control
- Maintain strong client relationships and drive continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with all SQE, legal, and accreditation requirements
- Provide programme-level reporting across commercial, financial, and delivery performance
This role is full time working 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home. Occasional travel to other Babcock and customer sites may be required.
Essential experience of the Programme Manager:
- Extensive managerial experience at a senior level within a rail project delivery environment
- Strong knowledge of processes, operational and associated safety matters
Qualifications for the Programme Manager:
- Member of a relevant professional body (e.g., Association for Project Management) with chartered status and/or degree-level education
