The Experis Academy offers a unique opportunity to be trained and upskilled to become a highly skilled Estimator for Cavendish Nuclear. This role is part of our Academy division where you will receive training and development while representing Experis. The programmes support talent growth towards permanent roles with industry‑leading customers.
We are looking for an ambitious candidate with strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. If you wish to reskill or develop estimating skills, this opportunity is for you. The position requires outstanding customer‑facing and teamwork ability. You will work in a delivery environment, supporting estimating activities for projects and programmes, and collaborate with colleagues to solve complex problems in the nuclear and infrastructure sector.
As part of the programme, you will receive training in project, programme, and portfolio management (P3M), project management, planning and controls, Primavera, Excel, and soft skills such as negotiation, presentation, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution. Training is scenario‑based with practical workshops.
The Estimating team calculates costs to deliver products or work to the client. Estimators participate in the tender process and throughout the project lifecycle to estimate change costs. They compile estimates in line with best practice, assessing required materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs, and produce estimates based on bills of quantities, schedules, drawings, specifications, and other client tender documents.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Deliver estimates using the appropriate methodology as directed
- Adhere to the estimating plan
- Produce estimates aligned with the estimating structure (e.g., WBS)
- Adjust future estimates and norms based on project LFE and feedback
- Develop top‑down and bottom‑up estimates to meet control, forecasting, and finance requirements
- Produce independent cost and schedule estimates in support of programmes, including data analysis and writing reports
- Select appropriate estimating approaches, document and maintain the Basis of Estimate (BoE)
- Assess and manage risk and opportunity, support negotiations, and review scope to develop compliant proposals
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and Project Control guidelines
