At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us you can play your part as a Principal Piping Stress Engineer at our Warrington (Cheshire) or Humberside (East Yorkshire) site.

This is a permanent, full‑time role working 37 hours per week based in Warrington (Cheshire) or Humberside (East Yorkshire).

The role:

  • Lead the stress analysis and integrity of complex piping systems that sit at the heart of a nationally critical programme — including new fuel conversion capability being delivered at the Springfields site in Preston.
  • Lead the piping stress analysis design basis, critical line list and support specifications for complex process and power systems.
  • Perform piping stress analysis and pressure vessel assessments using Hexagon Caesar II and PV Elite, including static/dynamic flexibility studies.
  • Select and qualify pipe supports, and conduct vibration studies to identify sources and mitigate risks to safety, reliability and performance.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, data sheets and analysis, acting as an intelligent customer and ensuring quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with piping engineers, designers, vendors and client counterparts, undertaking site visits and coordinating interfaces across disciplines.

Essential experience:

  • Demonstrable proficiency with Hexagon Caesar II for piping stress analysis.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Hexagon PV Elite for pressure vessel analysis.
  • Applied experience with ASME B31.1 (Power Piping) and ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), and familiarity with BS EN 13480 for metallic industrial piping.
  • Strong track record reviewing third‑party analyses and vendor documentation, with intelligent customer oversight.
  • Ability to coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams and deliver within robust QA/QC frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (mechanical or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • Deep, hands‑on experience in piping stress engineering within industrial, power or process environments.
