As a Communications Technician at Bovington, you’ll support defence operations by ensuring critical communication systems in armoured fighting vehicles are reliable, maintained, and ready for use.
The role
As part of a skilled team, you’ll inspect, diagnose, and repair communications equipment. You’ll respond to breakdowns and perform Level 1 repairs while maintaining quality standards.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Inspect and test communications equipment, accurately recording findings and work requirements.
- Carry out Level 1 repairs in line with approved procedures and high‑quality standards.
- Identify faults, order spare parts, and prepare equipment for further repair when required.
- Respond to communication equipment breakdowns during working hours and on a rostered basis.
The role is based onsite at Bovington, with working times Monday to Thursday 08:00‑16:30 and Friday 08:00‑15:00, totaling 39 hours per week.
Essential experience
- Be physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks.
- Have a practical, hands‑on approach to technical work.
- Demonstrate reliability and attention to detail.
- Work effectively as part of a team in a safety‑focused environment.
Qualifications
- Full UK Category B driving licence.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance. Positions may be subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, potentially affected by your place of birth, nationality, and residency.
