As a Welding Trainer, you'll step away from day-to-day production work and into a role where you'll shape the next generation of military engineers, using your practical know-how to coach, guide and assess trainees.

The role:

  • As a Welder, you'll deliver, assess, and continuously improve welding and fabrication training for military trainees, ensuring they develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to meet Defence engineering standards.
  • This role offers the chance to move away from commercial production environments and into a rewarding training position where your expertise will directly contribute to the development of future military engineers.

Day-to-day, you will be required to:

  • Deliver practical and classroom-based welding and fabrication training using a range of welding techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain lesson plans, training materials, assessments, and learning resources.
  • Assess trainee performance, providing constructive feedback and additional support where required.
  • Maintain accurate trainee records, reports, and training documentation.
  • Ensure workshops, equipment, and training environments remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

This role is full time working 37 hours per week and is based on site at MOD Lyneham, Wiltshire.

Essential experience of the Welder:

  • Previous supervisory experience within a welding, fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support and develop others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to organise workloads and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications for the Welder:

  • Welding-related apprenticeship and/or a recognised Level 3 qualification in Welding, Fabrication, or a related discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence would be advantageous.
  • Instructional or assessor qualifications are desirable but not essential, as training may be provided.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
