Overview: Train to maintain life‑saving aviation equipment in a safety‑critical environment. You’ll be a Survival Equipment Technician within Babcock’s Aviation business, supporting pilots across the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force.
The role: As a Survival Equipment Technician, you’ll follow a structured training programme combining classroom learning, practical instruction, and on‑the‑job experience. Over time, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge required to inspect, maintain, and repair a wide range of survival and aircrew equipment, working to strict airworthiness and safety standards.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Carrying out maintenance inspections, repairs, and component changes on survival and aircrew equipment
- Following approved airworthiness, air safety, and quality procedures in a safety‑critical environment
- Completing documentation accurately to support compliance and traceability
- Working closely with engineering colleagues, customers, and stakeholders
- Progressing through structured training and on‑the‑job development to achieve technician competence
Essential experience:
- Practical, hands‑on mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
- Confidence communicating in different settings and with a range of stakeholders
- Customer‑facing experience or teamwork in a service environment
- High attention to detail and a commitment to working safely
Qualifications:
- GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Maths and English, or equivalent
- Basic IT literacy and confidence using computer systems
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (EDBS) / Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance.
