The role involves working on a wide variety of aircraft types, contributing to maintenance, storage, and disposal programmes that support operational capability and sustainability. It is a highly practical role that broadens your experience, strengthens your technical expertise, and offers long‑term development within defence, aerospace and engineering.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities:

  • Preparing fixed wing aircraft and helicopters for storage in line with engineering and safety standards
  • Carrying out in‑storage maintenance across a wide range of air platforms
  • Preparing aircraft for sale, reuse, or responsible disposal
  • Controlling quality assurance activities and supporting health and safety compliance
  • Working collaboratively with engineering, quality, and safety colleagues to ensure best practice

This position involves manual work, including lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time. The role is based onsite at RAF Shawbury, working 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00, and Friday 08:00 to 15:00.

Essential experience:

  • Demonstrable experience working within an aviation engineering environment
  • Experience maintaining or supporting multiple aircraft types
  • Proven background in quality assurance and health and safety practices

Qualifications:

  • Recognised trade certification

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
