The Role

As a Ship Control Instructor, you’ll be at the heart of delivering world‑class training to Royal Navy personnel, helping shape the future of submarine operations. This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise in Astute‑class submarine control systemsivar and make a lasting impact on national defence. You’ll be part of a team that empowers others, enhances operational readiness, and contributes to the safety and security of the UK.

Day‑to‑day you’ll be

  • Delivering Astute‑class ship control training in a specialised facility
  • Liaising with training design teams to provide subject matter expertise echar
  • Reviewing and evaluating technical data and change notifications

  • Ensuring training meets prescribed standards, quality, and cost targets
  • Supporting students with varying levels of experience

The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, and the set working times are 37 hours per week.

Experience required of the Ship Control Instructor

  • In‑depth knowledge of ship control systems operations
  • Experience managing submarine control rooms
  • Background in the Royal Navy submarine service
  • Previous training delivery experience (desirable)
  • Recent Astute‑class submarine experience (desirable)

Qualifications for the Ship Control Instructorანდ

  • Warrant Officer or Senior Rating within the Royal Navy
  • DTC / DTTT qualification (advantageous)
