The role:

  • As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll play a vital role in keeping essential vehicle fleets operational and ready to support defence and national infrastructure.
  • This is a hands-on position where your skills directly contribute to safety, reliability, and mission success.
  • You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of equipment and continue to develop your technical expertise in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Diagnose, inspect, and assess vehicles and associated mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • Service, repair, maintain, and overhaul vehicles to required standards and specifications.
  • Complete job cards, test certificates, and technical documentation accurately.
  • Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are used correctly and managed efficiently.
  • Work in line with customer requirements, regulations, and technical instructions.

This position involves manual work, which could include lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time. This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based at our Catterick site, near Richmond.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • Demonstrate previous experience in a vehicle mechanic or similar role.
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulics systems.
  • Bring experience from a dealership or local garage environment.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and build strong working relationships.

Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Service and Repair or equivalent.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
