The role
As a Product Safety Assurance Manager – Lead Auditor, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and integrity of Babcock’s global product portfolio. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will help shape our assurance strategy, influence senior leaders, and drive continuous improvement across our defence, aerospace, and engineering programmes.
You’ll lead third-level assurance activities, conduct audits, and provide strategic insights that protect lives and support national security. This is a career-defining opportunity to work across sectors, engage with senior stakeholders, and make a meaningful difference in a dynamic and noble industry.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Leading audits of product safety management systems across Babcock’s global operations
- Developing assurance frameworks to identify risks, non-compliance, and best practices
- Collaborating with senior leaders and safety teams to drive improvements
- Conducting oversight and technical reviews to ensure regulatory compliance
- Analysing safety data to inform intelligent, risk-based assurance activities.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week with remote and flexible working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Product Safety Assurance Manager – Lead Auditor:
- Subject matter expertise in product safety or safety management
- Proven experience in auditing safety or quality management systems
- Strong credibility and communication skills to engage with senior stakeholders
- Background in regulated industries such as defence, aviation, or nuclear
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence and lead assurance initiatives
Qualifications for the Product Safety Assurance Manager – Lead Auditor:
- Qualified Lead Auditor (e.g. ISO 9001, Environmental or Safety standards)
- Engineering background is beneficial but not essential

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
