The role
As a Buyer, you’ll play a vital role in strengthening the procurement and supply chain activities that underpin Babcock’s delivery of major defence, engineering and infrastructure programmes. Day-to-day, you’ll bring your commercial insight, sourcing expertise and strong relationship‑building skills to help drive value, ensure quality and enhance supplier performance.
- Managing sourcing and tendering of materials to support business unit bids and project execution.
- Negotiating pricing and supply agreements to secure cost‑effective and quality‑focused procurement outcomes.
- Ensuring supplier performance meets requirements of time, cost and quality across contract scope.
- Protecting Babcock’s commercial position through effective contract terms, purchase orders and negotiation practices.
- Providing timely management information and supporting accurate financial processing for supplier payments.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 3 days in the office/onsite.
Essential experience of the Buyer
- Proven ability in supply chain performance management.
- Strong contract management capability.
- Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong IT awareness and confidence using digital tools.
Qualifications for the Buyer
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
