The role

As a Breathing Apparatus Trainer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering hands‑on, safety‑critical training that directly supports the operational readiness of London’s frontline fire crews. Responsibilities

  • Deliver core firefighter skills training, including Breathing Apparatus and Level 3 apprenticeship modules.
  • Assess learner performance and provide constructive feedback to support progression.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment following Fit to Train, safety and welfare policies.
  • Manage learner welfare issues and escalated concerns via established safeguarding procedures.
  • Ensure training resources and equipment are suitable and raise any issues with senior colleagues.

Note: Successful candidates must pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

Essential Experience

  • Training or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above (can be obtained through Babcock).
  • Experience teaching, coaching, assessing or presenting to groups of adults (desirable).
  • Fire‑related background or operational experience (advantageous).
  • A passion for training, with an adaptable and engaging approach.

Security Clearance
