The role: As a Library Administrator, you will be at the centre of learning and development within a major defence training environment. Your work ensures that trainees, staff, and visitors have seamless access to the information and resources they need to succeed. By running the library efficiently and professionally, you will directly support training delivery, compliance, and contract performance, helping to build skilled people who protect the nation.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:
- Provide a welcoming and professional library desk service, helping users find books, digital resources, and information
- Manage the issue, return, and control of library and course materials
- Maintain accurate records by updating systems, shelving stock, and completing inventory checks
- Support trainees and staff with computers, printing, scanning, and online systems
- Work with trainers and colleagues to ensure library resources remain relevant, accessible, and secure
Essential experience of the Library Administrator:
- Experience working within a library, learning centre, or similar customer‑focused information environment
- Experience delivering frontline customer service across print and electronic formats
- Experience using ICT systems, databases, or library management systems
- Experience carrying out administrative tasks such as record keeping and data management
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing a varied workload
Qualifications for the Library Administrator:
- GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or 4 and above in English and Maths
- ECDL or equivalent ICT qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Enhanced Disclosure security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and trade control restrictions.
