As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll be at the heart of our mission maintaining and repairing military vehicles and equipment that support national defence. This is more than just a technical role; it’s a chance to contribute to something bigger. You’ll be working with purpose‑built machinery, gaining hands‑on experience, and growing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:
- Diagnose and repair military and occasional civilian vehicles and mechanical equipment
- Undertake inspections, assessments, and road testing
- Complete documentation and test certificates to required standards
- Ensure accurate reporting of work completed and time taken
- Use issued stores and equipment appropriately, returning unused or faulty parts
This position involves manual work, including lifting, bending, using tools, or standing for extended periods of time. All tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment are provided. Full‑time, based at our Leuchars site. You’ll work 37 hours per week, typically Monday to Thursday (8 hours per day) and Friday (5 hours). No mandatory overtime, night shifts, or weekend work.
Essential experience:
- Experience working with heavy goods vehicles (HGV)
- Confident using diagnostic tools and systems
- Holds a valid UK driving licence
Qualifications required:
- Level 3 qualification in Motor Mechanics (Light or Heavy) via RQF NVQ/SVQ or EAL Level 3 NVQ/SVQ Extended
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
