The role:
As a Driver, you’ll be accountable to the Transport Services Manager, via the Senior Controller, for the safe and efficient execution of assigned tasks. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll transport senior RAF personnel to key destinations, including airports, while ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. When not driving, you’ll help maintain the fleet and uphold operational readiness.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Carry out driving duties in compliance with Road Traffic Legislation and Transport Law
- Complete vehicle checks before, during, and after use in line with specifications
- Maintain accurate driver and vehicle documentation
- Report vehicle defects promptly and ensure tachograph discs are completed correctly
- Refuel, clean, and check vehicles to a high standard
This role is full time 40 hours per week and involves alternating early and late shifts:
- Early: 05:00 – 14:00 (may start later if no early work)
- Late: 14:00 – 22:00
Essential experience and skills:
- Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
- Sound knowledge of Driver's Hours Regulations in accordance with EU Directive 561/2006
- Computer literate; basic IT skills
- Ability to engage effectively with internal and external personnel at all levels, including senior stakeholders
- Enjoy driving to various parts of the UK
Qualifications:
- Full Category B driving licence
- Security clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
