The role:
- As a Waterfront Mechanical Team Leader, you’ll play a vital leadership role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of submarine maintenance activities at HMNB Clyde.
- Working at the heart of one of the UK's most important defence facilities, you'll support the Waterfront Engineering Manager in leading engineering activities, managing specialist teams, and ensuring critical waterfront systems remain available and operational.

Key responsibilities:
- Leading and managing the Waterfront Systems team, including a team of Mechanical Fitters.
- Supporting the Waterfront Facility Manager to maximise resource utilisation and operational effectiveness.
- Ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, on time, to specification and within agreed cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Implementing company safety, quality and environmental standards and promoting safe working practices throughout the operation.
- Identifying, investigating and resolving waterfront engineering issues to maintain system availability and performance.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde.
Essential experience:
- Supervisory experience gained within a maintenance, repair or engineering environment.
- Mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial, marine, manufacturing or engineering setting.
- Knowledge of safe systems of work, including working at height and confined space activities.
- Experience developing, mentoring and supporting engineering teams.
- Good information technology skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications:
- Recognised SVQ Level 3 Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- HNC or above in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
