The role

As a Thermal Insulator, you’ll help ensure the continued availability and performance of critical defence assets that protect the nation. This is an exciting opportunity to begin or grow a career in defence, aerospace and engineering — a field where your work truly matters. You’ll play a vital role in supporting engineering teams, helping to maintain operational capability across submarines, surface craft and wider estate systems. Day‑to‑day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Support engineering teams with insulating activities across a range of systems and structures.
  • Assist in identifying and rectifying defects, alterations and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all work is delivered safely, following health and safety legislation and Babcock policies.
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes and enhance productivity across the department.
  • Work collaboratively with team leaders, engineers and wider stakeholders to meet operational targets.

This is a full‑time, onsite role based at Clyde, Faslane, working 36 hours per week (07:00–16:45). Travel for training may be required.

Qualifications for the Thermal Insulator

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
