The role
As a Project Planner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most critical defence programmes. This is your opportunity to manage integrated scheduling across complex engineering projects, ensuring delivery confidence and operational excellence. You’ll make a real impact by aligning planning outputs with financial and strategic goals, helping to safeguard national security and support the Royal Navy’s fleet readiness.
Day‐to‐day responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Primavera P6 schedules across planning and execution phases, updating baselines as work packages evolve.
- Drive progress reviews, risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring plans reflect reality and decisions are data‐led.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, vessels, shore departments and customer representatives to align scope and milestones.
- Report credible schedule, resource and milestone forecasts to support governance and performance reviews.
- Uphold planning standards and processes, ensuring compliance with departmental guidance and company requirements.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 07:15 – 16:45 and provides options of agile working with 3 days in the office/onsite and 1 day working from home.
Essential experience of the Project Planner:
- Experience in a similar environment (ideally defence, engineering or infrastructure).
- Full project lifecycle exposure from initiation through to closure.
- Proficiency with project planning and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6 or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret technical inputs and translate them into clear, executable plans.
Qualifications for the Project Planner:
- Ideally, you’ll hold a professional qualification in a related discipline such as Primavera Fundamentals, P6 Advanced, Project Management or Resource Management. However, we also welcome applications from candidates who bring equivalent experience and a strong track record in project delivery.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
