Use Your Inspection Expertise to Support the UK's Submarine Fleet

At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Non-Destructive Examination Engineer at our HMNB Clyde Faslane site.

The role:

  • Conducting non-destructive examinations in accordance with applicable specifications, procedures and standards
  • Performing inspections using radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and visual testing techniques
  • Interpreting inspection results and producing accurate technical reports and documentation
  • Supporting maintenance and repair activities through defect identification and engineering assurance
  • Collaborating with engineering, operations and quality teams to maintain compliance and continuous improvement

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 07:15 – 16:45 and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience:

  • Experience working with non-destructive examination and inspection techniques
  • Demonstrable understanding of inspection procedures, standards and quality requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly
  • Ability to produce accurate reports and maintain inspection records
  • Experience working within engineering, manufacturing, defence, nuclear, marine or highly regulated environments

Qualifications:

  • PCN Level II in Ultrasonics (3.1/3.2)
  • Minimum of one additional PCN Level II qualification in one of the following: Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Visual Inspection, Radiography
  • PCN Level II Advanced Radiation Safety – desirable
  • CSWIP 3.0 or CSWIP 3.1 – desirable

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
