Engineering Support Multi Skilled Operative

Onsite at HMNB Clyde, Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute. Full‑time, permanent, 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.

As an Engineering Support Multi‑Skilled Operative, you will support Fleet Engineering teams in delivering planned preventive maintenance activities and resolving engineering defects.

Your work contributes to operational readiness and asset availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering teams to deliver planned preventive maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in identifying and rectifying system, manufacturing and equipment defects across fleet and estate assets.
  • Operate and handle engineering support equipment following approved procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, including controlling work processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Experience

  • Experience supporting engineering, maintenance or operational activities within an industrial, marine, engineering or defence environment.
  • Experience using engineering support equipment such as scaffolding, forklift truck operations or slinging activities.
  • Knowledge of manual handling practices and safe working procedures.
  • Experience following risk assessments, COSHH requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Experience controlling, issuing and returning work equipment in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Confined Spaces for Competent Persons certification.
  • Occasional Climber/Working at Heights certification.
  • Radiation Worker Training certification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Category B).
  • Security Clearance

Candidate must be a UK national able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance. Trade Control restrictions may apply.
