Lead Digital Innovation in Defence Engineering

The role
As a Principal Digital Engineer - Information Management Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a unique opportunity to influence major defence programmes, champion innovation, and make a real impact on national security while advancing your career in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be the subject matter expert for Information Management, leading a team of digital engineers and driving digital delivery across multiple project streams. You’ll shape the strategic vision for ISO 19650‑compliant information management, ensuring structured data delivery and robust governance.
- Leading the strategic vision and delivery of ISO 19650‑compliant Information Management
- Developing EIRs, AIRs, BEPs, and related documentation for structured data delivery
- Defining and implementing data governance strategies, including CDE management
- Collaborating with supply chain, delivery partners, and document control teams to align standards
- Championing innovation and supporting adoption of emerging technologies
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience
- Proven experience in data management across large programmes or multi‑project environments
- Skilled in BIM processes and digital engineering tools, including 4D/5D and digital twins
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities across cross‑functional teams
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in digital delivery and data governance
Qualifications
- Professional qualification or postgraduate degree in BIM, Information Management, or equivalent experience
