The role:

As an Electrical Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants. Our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply, and meeting our net zero commitments.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Creation of design solution(s) and deliverables to required standards, consistent with the whole lifecycle from concept through to in-service support.
  • Preparation and production of drawings throughout the design lifecycle and in line with recognised ISO standards to the required time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Promotion of effective co-operation across Design and other functional teams.
  • Preparation, production, and maintenance of project documentation as required by the design lifecycle, including ‘as built’/datum pack documentation.
  • Liaison with colleagues and stakeholders during the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including contribution to design reviews.
  • Development of innovative design solutions and solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of Production and Technical Queries.
  • Assistance to more senior designers in a range of activities including production of estimates, maintenance and improvement in standard and quality of outputs, production and test organisations with the compilation of test forms and procedures.
  • Maintenance of awareness of developments within the industry, particularly for techniques & tools, physical integration, bill of material controls & management of design maturity.

Essential experience of the Electrical Designer:

  • Knowledge of CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice.

Qualifications of the Electrical Designer:

  • ONC/HNC/HND (or equivalent) OR BTEC National Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) OR appropriate apprenticeship of specialisation.

This role is full-time, 37-hours per week and includes hybrid, flexible working arrangements.
