The role As a Deputy Design Manager , you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join a transformative infrastructure programme at Devonport, driving future MOD ship and submarine capabilities. The Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) Business Unit is leading the design, construction, and commissioning of docking and berthing facilities for Astute Class submarine maintenance, shaping the future of naval operations. Day-to-day, you’ll assist the Principal Engineer in overseeing the civil and structural engineering elements of the Water Retaining Boundary (Dock), ensuring successful project execution and compliance with technical standards. Ensure systems adhere to defined requirements, demonstrating compliance with relevant HSE standards. Oversee civil/structural engineering aspects of the Water Retaining Boundary (Dock), ensuring technical performance and appropriate responses. Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance on civil/structural engineering. Offer technical design guidance and review of civil/structural design packages. Support integration of civil/structural designs with other design packages to ensure cohesive project execution. This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements. Essential experience of the Deputy Design Manager Experience in heavy civil works. Preferably specialised in Marine Civil/Structural Engineering. Expertise in marine remedial structural repairs. Knowledge of seismic design is advantageous. Proven ability in managing sub-contractors and consultants. Qualifications for the Deputy Design Manager Minimum of a Bachelor\’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. Preferably working towards Chartered Engineer status.
