The role:
- As a Commissioning Engineer Warships - Electrical, you’ll play a key role in bringing complex defence, marine and engineering systems to life.
- This is an exciting opportunity to ensure the safe, reliable and compliant operation of electrical systems that support the UK’s national defence capability.

Key responsibilities:
- Delivering commissioning activities across electrical systems to ensure they meet operational, safety and regulatory standards.
- Producing, reviewing and managing commissioning documentation and test procedures.
- Collaborating closely with design, quality, engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues.
- Conducting inspections, tests and evaluations to verify system readiness.
- Supporting safety, quality and assurance processes throughout all commissioning stages.
Essential experience:
- Experience delivering commissioning, testing or verification of electrical systems within engineering, marine, defence, nuclear or industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including fault diagnosis and system testing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and safety documentation.
- Experience working to regulated or high‑integrity engineering standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
- Apprenticeship or equivalent training in an electrical discipline – Essential
- A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent) – Desirable
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. The role requires national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency held.
