The role:

  • As a Service Support Desk Operator and Receptionist, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service while supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy defence training environment.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for staff, visitors, customers and stakeholders, you'll combine service desk support with front-of-house responsibilities to ensure requests, enquiries and site access arrangements are handled efficiently and professionally.
  • Day-to-day, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to develop your customer service, administration and stakeholder management skills within a business that supports critical defence capability.
  • You'll work within a collaborative team, gain exposure to a wide range of operational activities, and contribute directly to creating a safe, professional and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing service requests, bookings, enquiries, complaints and fault reports through the Service Support Desk.
  • Responding to telephone, email and walk-in customer enquiries and accurately raising and updating cases.
  • Recording asset availability and maintaining service information in line with contractual requirements.
  • Welcoming visitors, completing security and access procedures, and issuing visitor and vehicle passes.
  • Coordinating with site hosts and stakeholders to ensure visitors are appropriately directed or escorted.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at (RSME) in Chatham, Kent.

Essential experience:

  • Demonstrable customer service experience within a busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience handling challenging customer enquiries professionally and confidently.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
  • Additional customer service, administration or business support qualifications would be advantageous.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
