The role:
- As a Structural Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of some of the most complex and strategically important engineering challenges in the defence sector.
- This is a rare opportunity to directly influence the safety, performance and future capability of the UK submarine fleet.
- Day-to-day, you’ll be part of the Naval Architecture and Outfitting Team, collaborating with Naval Architects, Structural Engineers and Designers to deliver innovative engineering solutions across a range of critical systems.
- Your work will support both in-service and next-generation platforms, making a real impact on national security and your own career development.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitoring system performance and supporting root cause analysis for technical issues or degradation.
- Delivering high-quality technical documentation, including reports, calculations and engineering drawings.
- Contributing to design activities for in-service modifications and capability upgrades.
- Supporting ship trials, dry dockings and refits to ensure successful implementation of engineering solutions.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders (Design teams, Safety Engineers, Project Managers) and external stakeholders (MoD clients, dockyard operators, suppliers).
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience:
- Marine, production or mechanical engineering experience.
- Proficiency in engineering tools and managing engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Skilled in systems engineering methodologies and integration of complex subsystems.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and management skills.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- HNC or above in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related STEM discipline.
- Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
