As a Project Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is motivated by hands‑on technical delivery and ownership of engineering solutions, while working within a structured project environment. You’ll independently deliver technical design activities and investigations, contributing engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle – from bid and concept development through to verified technical outputs. You’ll apply sound engineering judgement to solve complex problems, working closely with project management to ensure technical solutions are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently.

Day‑to‑day Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver defined technical work packages, applying strong engineering fundamentals and structured problem‑solving approaches.
  • Independently deliver technical design projects, analyses, and engineering investigations in line with project requirements.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, calculations, reports, and design evidence to support engineering decisions.
  • Contribute technical expertise to bid activities, supporting solution development, estimating, and risk identification.
  • Support project initiation activities, including requirements capture, engineering scope definition, and technical planning.
  • Apply engineering principles to resolve design, performance, or operational challenges across the project lifecycle.

Additional Requirements

This position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role. This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and offers hybrid working arrangements, combining home working with attendance at internal and customer sites on a weekly / monthly basis.

Essential Experience

  • A strong understanding of core engineering principles and their practical application in delivering technical solutions.
  • Experience independently delivering technical tasks, designs, or investigations within a project environment.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles and how they interact with engineering delivery.
  • Experience contributing technical input across bid, initiation, and delivery phases of a project lifecycle.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary, matrix‑managed teams and communicate technical information clearly.

Qualifications

Relevant engineering degree (or equivalent) is required, and applicants should be working towards or nearing completion of Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Integrated Engineer (IEng) status.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
